KARACHI: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Pakistan to establish a state-of-the-art national cloud data centre.
The agreement was formalized during the Huawei Connect 2024 Global Conference, marking a significant step in enhancing NBP’s digital infrastructure.The collaboration aims to deploy advanced cloud services within a Tier-3 certified data centre, ensuring robust data management and security. Huawei will provide dedicated teams to oversee the timely implementation and ongoing operations of the facility, along with maintenance support. NBP representatives will also receive hands-on training and comprehensive documentation to facilitate smooth integration of the new technology.
The MoU was signed by Chief Information Technology Group (ITG) at NBP Amin Manji and CEO of Huawei Technologies Pakistan Ethan Sun. The event was attended by notable figures, including President of NBP Rehmat Ali Hasnie, Group Chief of IFRG Riaz Hussain, and several senior executives from Huawei Technologies.
In his address at the event, Hasnie emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to adopting advanced technologies that enhance our operational efficiency.” Manji further highlighted, “Huawei’s expertise will be crucial in transforming our data management capabilities and ensuring the reliability of our systems.”
