PESHAWAR: Launched recently a new book titled “KP Scams: A Journey of Investigative Journalism” has exposed some startling stories relating to corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Authored by senior journalist and President of Peshawar Press Club, Arshad Aziz Malik, the book brings together some144 investigative stories, previously published in The News International, a leading English daily newspaper of Pakistan.

Arshad Aziz Malik, who has over three decades long experience in journalism, has made some very good investigations of corrupt practices in various sectors in the province, exposing financial scandals, mismanagement, and abuses of power.

KP Scams is a demonstration of the author’s efforts in holding authorities accountable through detailed investigative journalism. The book not only provides an in-depth look at corruption in the province but also serves as an important resource for those interested in governance, transparency, and accountability in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is in power for the past 11 years.

Speaking at the book’s launch, Malik noted that the stories in KP Scams reflect years of painstaking research, interviews, and documentation. “This book is not just about individual scandals; it’s about the systemic corruption that has plagued Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for years. Each story is a piece of the larger puzzle, showing how corruption impacts public services, governance, and the daily lives of people,” Malik said.

With a collection of 144 stories, readers will find comprehensive coverage of various sectors including education, health, infrastructure development, and public funds, among others. The reporting in the book has uncovered funds embezzlement in government projects, fraudulent contracts, and questionable financial practices that have cost the province billions. Stories pertaining to misuse of authorities in postings against important positions, lethargies by certain government departments and functionaries have also been given in the book.

Published by Kasuti Publishers Peshawar, KP Scams is a significant contribution to country’s investigative journalism landscape and is expected to generate substantial discussion in both media and political circles. It is not only a documentation of past wrongdoings but also a call to action for greater transparency and integrity in public service.

The journalist continues to ensure his role as a watchdog and ensure accountability through his work. The 342-page book can prove as a powerful reminder of the vital role of investigative journalism in ensuring transparency and good governance.

The book also carries some pictures of the author with various dignitaries and important occasions of which he remained a part.
