Rafique Rajwana appointed Punjab governor
ISLAMABAD: On the advice of the prime minister, the president of Pakistan has appointed Senator Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana as the new governor of the Punjab province.Rajwana belongs to the southern Punjab and has been very active in politics. ISLAMABAD: On the advice of the prime minister, the president of Pakistan has appointed Senator Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana as the new governor of the Punjab province.
Rajwana belongs to the southern Punjab and has been very active in politics. He remained associated with the PML-N throughout his political career.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with him at the Prime Minister’s House after which the appointment was made public.
The prime minister praised the efforts of Senator Rajwana for the party.In a statement after getting the new appointment, Rajwana said he would make all-out efforts to serve the people of the province.
He assured the prime minister that he would come up to the expectations of the party leadership.The position had been vacant since Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar resigned on January 29, 2015.
Later, speaking on the floor of the Senate, Rafiq Rajwana expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.“I am happy on becoming the Punjab governor and it has been difficult to bid goodbye to the Senate,” Rajwana said in the Senate.He said that he was determined to address the grievances of the people of south Punjab and allay their sense of deprivation and would show commitment in resolving their issues.
