LAHORE:Farm and industry leaders on Sunday demanded that agriculture is the backbone of the economy and it should be given due attention.
They said farming sector is facing various challenges and theses challenges need to be addressed proactively. Farm and industry leaders have said a taskforce in collaboration with agriculture value chain and industry is being set up to resolve burning issues of the sector.
The declining trend in the cotton production poses threat to the whole textile sector. Concerted efforts should also be made to revive cotton crop in the country, said farm and industry leaders. The cotton processing industry in collaboration with the industry will set up a task force comprising agricultural scientists and experts to increase cotton production in line with modern scientific research, they said and added the body would use platform of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to accelerate efforts in this connection.
