Once regarded as a cradle of exemplary peace and tranquillity, Shikarpur, a city known for its glory and grandeur, has now fallen under the control of criminals and outlaws. The once peaceful streets are now plagued by growing incidents of kidnapping for ransom, street crimes, motorcycle snatchings, and robberies in the bazaars and city centres. The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the police appear helpless before these lawbreakers. Fear and chaos grip the streets, neighbourhoods, and even schools. Social media is awash with crime stories, spreading further anxiety among the city's residents. The recent kidnappings of children have particularly heightened the sense of terror. Parents are understandably terrified, constantly fearing for the safety of their loved ones.
What makes matters worse is the deafening silence from our elected representatives, who have failed to show any solidarity with the vulnerable citizens they are supposed to represent. To curb this rising wave of crime, it is imperative that the police force be fully activated and empowered. Key areas like markets, neighbourhood streets, schools, and trade centres must be well-guarded. Criminals and outlaws should be dealt with strictly and without delay.
