Technology zones authority chief to be from private sector

Cabinet Division has invited applications from suitable candidates for the important post

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to appoint the chairperson of the Special Technology Zones Authority from the private sector.

The Cabinet Division has invited applications from suitable candidates for the important post. The appointment will be for three years and on the special pay scale and allowances. The purpose of the establishment of this authority is to review the national investment policies and the laws and regulations affecting the zones. The authority will recommend amendments to these laws and regulations and policies. It will make recommendations for investment in the technology sector and give and create capital investment categories that would be given special incentives. It will liaise with ministries and provincial governments to implement policies for investment in the technology sector.

The criteria for the qualification of the chairperson has been set as at least 16 years of education in Business Administration, Management Science, Technology Management, Social Sciences, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Public Policy, Public Administration or other related field. Additional education is better. At least 20 years of experience. The upper age limit has been fixed at 62 years.
