IIU to open faculty block, global media centre today

As the International Islamic University (IIU) will hold 10th convocation today (Saturday), a newly-constructed faculty block for engineering students and a new faculty -- Faculty of Computing -- will be inaugurated on the occasion.
During the convocation, degree will be conferred upon 11,644 students.
IIU President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh told reporters on the main campus that the Centre for Islam and Global Media would also be inaugurated by IIU Pro Chancellor Professor Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail during the visit to the university to attend convocation.
“After 11,644 students receive degrees, the number of students graduated from the university so far will reach 38,002,” he said.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh said 5,620 male students and 6,024 female students will get degrees in the convocation, while 110 PhDs will also be conferred degrees.
He said the number of foreigners graduated from the IIU would be 629.
The IIU president said that university is providing quality education to its students integrated with teachings of Islam since 36 years.
