LAHORE: In an ongoing effort to combat gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has conducted further raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 61 connections and the imposition of Rs2.7 million in fines.
In Lahore, 11 connections were disconnected for illegal gas usage, with an additional 14 for the use of gas compressors. The team also imposed fines totaling Rs0.99 million in gas theft cases. In Faisalabad, one connection was cut off for illegal gas use, with fines amounting to Rs0.02 million.
In Sheikhupura, a fine of Rs0.79 million was imposed on offenders. In Multan, 7 connections were terminated for illegal gas usage, while another 5 were disconnected for the use of compressors. In Sahiwal, 1 illegal connection was cut. The Rawalpindi team disconnected 2 connections for illegal usage and another 4 for compressor use.
In KP, the teams in Peshawar and Karak disconnected 4 illegal connections and imposed fines amounting to Rs0.276 million. The Mardan team disconnected 4 illegal connections, imposing Rs0.4 million in fines.
In Gujranwala, 2 connections were terminated for illegal gas usage, with another for compressor use, alongside fines of Rs0.27 million. The Bahawalpur team disconnected 1 illegal connection and 4 for compressor use.
