People protest against rising robberies
CHAKDARA: The residents here on Friday staged a protest against the increasing incidents of robberies.The local political workers and traders also joined the protest to express their resentment over the failure of the police to check crimes.
Anjuman-e-Tajiran Adenzai leader Khwja Faizul Ghafoor, Manzoor Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami, councillor Samiullah and others addressed the protesters, who had gathered outside the local press club.
They said that it was the utmost responsibility of the police to take action against the anti-social elements and outlaws. They said that the law and order had deteriorated while the criminals were striking with impunity with no check from the police.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the performance of the police, the speakers said that the criminals had made life miserable for the local people. They said that incidents of theft and robberies had recorded a sharp increase in recent months but the police were least bothered to take them to task.
