Islamabad: A female leopard (Malika) rescued from Azad Jammu and Kashmir has died from critical injuries during treatment at a centre of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board here.
The development comes a few days after the board declared the big cat's condition bad. X Ray revealed four bullets inside the leopard. The veterinary surgeon removed one bullet, which was fired from a 12-bore shotgun, while the others lodged in the animal's vertebrae and heart area led to her death, according to the IWMB.
The leopard was found injured in a nullah in Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The AJK wildlife department has already started an investigation into the attack on the leopard and submitted an application to the local police to register FIR against unidentified attackers.
