KP prosecutors boycott courts against govt’s apathy
PESHAWAR: On the call of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prosecutors Welfare Association, the public prosecutors on Thursday observed a strike and boycotted the courts’ proceedings across the province.
The public prosecutors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had announced boycott of court for an indefinite period to protest the government’s failure to approve an independent prosecution department and prosecutor general’s office, as well as the lack of a service structure and other benefits. The association has presented a nine-point charter of demands to the government. The prosecutors have also threatened to paralyse the entire criminal justice system if their demands were not met. The prosecutors holding banners and placards inscribed with their words of demands staged protests and boycotted the courts.
