CJP Faez Isa observed that they are hearing matter in view of the protection of public money
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday summoned from federal and provincial governments the summary of annual developmental plan (ADP).
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the matter regarding the developmental funds of federal and provincial governments. The court directed that the annual developmental funds approved in the recent budget and its summary plan be submitted before it with the signatures of either the secretary Finance or chief secretaries of the provincial governments and adjourned the matter for three weeks.
During the course of hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa observed that they are hearing the matter in view of the protection of public money, adding that the governments may spend the funds approved for the purpose but it should be utilised in a transparent manner. “Transparency means that developmental schemes should not be run on the basis of individual status,” the CJP remarked, adding that Ziaul Haq had introduced the tradition of granting funds in the name of parliamentarians.
The chief justice further said that developmental schemes should be launched but in accordance with the Constitution and they should not be run in the name of individuals, adding that when governments changed, then these developmental stand halted. “We are least bothered about projects but they must be accomplished in a transparent manner,” the CJP said. Later, the court adjourned the matter for three weeks.
