Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, along with the traffic DIG, Korangi SSP and other senior police officers, paid a visit to offices of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) on Wednesday, and called for the installation of a maximum number of CCTV cameras in industrial zones.
KATI executive members and other members welcomed the police chief on arrival.
Officials said that at the beginning of a ceremony, KATI members thanked the police chief for his arrival and appreciated the launch of the police 15 app for the convenience of the public. They paid tribute to police martyrs for their sacrifices.
The KATI members apprised the police chief about the problems being faced regarding law and order. Odho expressed happiness over Kati’s visit and said the shortage of police in the industrial zone would be overcome very soon. He stressed the need for ensuring installation of maximum CCTV cameras in industrial zones so that operational policing and patrolling could be replaced with CCTV cameras.
Operations to curb street crime are underway while CCTV cameras should be kept functional in commercial places so that crime can be controlled, he said, adding that with the support of the community, we are installing modern cameras in the city and with the help of these cameras there is a lot of success in arresting the accused.
There were three incidents in Korangi in which three people were killed and all three incidents were solved by the police, he said.
The meeting was informed that a crackdown on Chhapra hotels in Korangi would be launched soon and an awareness campaign would be started in schools regarding traffic rules. The police officers paid tribute to their martyrs and said their killers would soon be brought to justice.
Moreover, the Karachi police personnel are also gaining prominence in various fields. Police’s talented young boxer Shaheer Afridi and bodybuilder Shah Nawaz are notable.
We have to value our heroes and hope these young people will win competitions for their country in the future. We need to create a platform through which communities support such talented youth, the top cop said.
Odho said that in the car accident case, every effort was made to do professional work. The Shaheen Force is being increased and new motorcycles are being provided to them to control street crime.
The investigation department is being equipped with the new requirements, and in this regard the duty officer has been brought under the investigation department.
At the end of the ceremony, a bouquet of flowers, ajrak and other gifts were presented to the senior officers.
