On the instructions of Government of Pakistan, a C-130 aircraft of Pakistan Air Force carrying relief goods for the flood-affected areas of Sri Lanka left for Colombo on Monday, says a press release.
Relief goods, weighing 28,000 lbs, including mats, tents and electricity generators, have been airlifted from PAF Base, Nur Khan, which will be handed over to the Sri Lankan authorities at Colombo.
At least 82 people have died and more than half a million have been left homeless after torrential rains and heavy floods. As a gesture of solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka, the Government of Pakistan has extended humanitarian relief assistance to mitigate sufferings of the flood affected people.
