Governor pays tribute to Arshad Nadeem
LAHORE : Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan Saturday said Arshad Nadeem brought glory to the country by winning the gold medal in Olympics.
Addressing a ceremony organised in the honour of the national hero at the Governor's House Lahore, the governor said Arshad Nadeem is our hero and the whole nation is celebrating his win.
The governor expressed hope that he would continue to bring laurels to the country.
On the occasion, the governor presented a cheque of Rs 200,000 to Arshad Nadeem and the key of a car to the mother of Arshad Nadeem on behalf of the Sindh Government.
In the ceremony, Arshad was also given a plot of one kanal by a private society and a 10-marla plot by another private society.
A checque of Rs 500,000 was also given to his coach Salman Butt by the Sindh government.
On the occasion, Arshad said it is a great honour for him as the whole nation welcomed him.
Later, the governor visited the house of former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and inquired about his health.
On the occasion, the governor termed Shujaat an asset of the country. The governor also invited Shujaat to visit the Governor's House.
