Traffic police make special arrangements for I-Day

Rawalpindi: The Rawa­lpindi Traffic Police has chalked out a comprehensive plan for smooth flow of traffic on the eve of Independence Day of Pakistan.

On the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima, in all 750 officers and traffic wardens will perform their duties in Rawalpindi city and Murree on the night of August 13 and 14. The CTO has also formed seven special squads in order to prevent one-wheeling and check traffic violations in Rawalpindi city and Murree. Moreover, she has also ordered strict action against under aged drivers. The CTO has appealed to commuters to cooperate with traffic police for smooth flow of traffic and avoid giving their vehicles to under aged children.

Bicycle rally welcomed in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: The ‘President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari Sports bicycle Rally’ organised in connection with Independence Day, reached Rawalpindi on Monday, where it received a warm welcome.

The rally, departed from Tehsil Office Gujar Khan at its 6th stage, was seen off by Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Khurram Parvez Raja, District President, Tariq Jalil and Tehsil President Amir Khurshid.

It was welcomed at the martyrdom site of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Rawalpindi where it was received by District President Chaudhry Zaheer Sultan, Tehsil President Raja Mansoor Akhtar along with general public and pica administration. The participants were garlanded by the cyclists. General Secretary People’s Sports Wing Central Punjab, Sabir Ali Kasuri while talking to APP said that the seventh stage of the bicycle rally would start on Tuesday, August 13 from the martyrdom site of Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi, and the rally reach at the Central Secretariat of the Pakistan People’s Party at 10 am same day.
