Number of dengue patients on the rise
Rawalpindi : The number of dengue fever patients being reported from district Rawalpindi has started registering an increase as in the last one week, another four individuals belonging to the district have tested positive for the infection taking the tally to 36.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday has revealed that the teams of district health authority have been finding a greater number of dengue fever vector, larvae and adult ‘aedes aegypti’ mosquitoes from houses and spots in the district. The larvae of dengue fever vector have so far been found from almost all across the district and alarming is the fact that over 3 per cent of the houses checked in as many as 81 union councils have dengue fever vector.
The data provided by the district health authority on Saturday reveals that there are 22 union councils in the district having Breteau Index above seven means larvae of ‘aedes aegypti’ have been found from over seven per cent of the houses checked in these UCs while 59 UCs are with Breteau Index above three.
It is worth mentioning here that three weeks back, there were 26 union councils having Breteau Index above three and of these, only six were recorded with Breteau Index above seven in the district.
