Three booked for extorting money from shop owners

FAISALABAD: Jhang Bazaar police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly extorting money from shop owners, blackmailing them and threatening them with serious consequences.

Umar Daraz, the President of the New Anarkali Traders Association, complained that the accused have a history of serious criminal activities, including attempted murder, extortion, drug offences, and gambling, with a total of eight cases registered against them.

The alleged ringleader, Faisal Ghoda, is wanted in a murder case, while his associates, Osama alias Mana and Shahzad Mana, are also on the police’s wanted list for various offences. According to Umar Daraz, the accused have been collecting extortion money from shopkeepers with intimidation and threats. The police are investigating the case further to bring the culprits to justice.

WASA SPEEDS UP DESILTING DRIVE: On the directives of Commissioner Silwat Saeed, the Wasa completed desilting operations within a day using cranes and machinery in the areas of Chakera Village, Nawabanwala, D-Type, and D-Ground.

The commissioner instructed Wasa officials to set daily targets for the desilting of drains and sewer lines in residential areas. Silwat highlighted the importance of clearing drains and sewer lines to ensure the swift drainage of rainwater during the ongoing monsoon season.
