LAHORE:Professor of Medicine King Edward Medical University/Mayo Hospital Dr Israrul Haq has said if hepatitis B test is positive in pregnant women, this disease can also be transmitted to children during childbirth, to stay safe mother and child from this disease, it is necessary they should not neglect vaccination.
While giving a lecture at a medical workshop here on Wednesday, Dr Israrul Haq Toor revealed that the treatment of hepatitis C’s side-effects are negligible. He requested the citizens to avoid sleeping pills and cough syrups in case of liver shrinkage otherwise they may suffer a lot. He said that the symptoms of hepatitis A include loss of appetite, irritability, fatigue, yellow eyes and body and restlessness. He disclosed that Hepatitis B and C is a rapidly spreading disease in the society about which the situation is getting out of control due to people's carelessness, lack of knowledge and not adopting the principle of prevention is better than cure.
The rapid increase in the mortality rate due to Hepatitis is a matter of concern. He said that usually people do not get their blood test due to lack of awareness and keep their disease hidden considering hepatitis disease as a stigma which gradually turns fatal and when the patient is brought to the hospital, it often becomes difficult for the doctors to treat him and he dies.
