People turn to Murree to escape scorching heat
Islamabad
More and more people are turning to Murree from the country’s plain areas for relief from the scorching weather.
An influx of tourists is expected in the hill station over the weekend.
Currently, the country’s plain areas are in the grip of heat wave with the temperatures soaring to around 50 degree Celsius.
Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, the Mall and Ayubia are the main attractions for Murree visitors.
“I’ve reached here along with family this afternoon to get respite from extremely hot weather in my town. It’s no less than a paradise compared to our sizzling city,” Muhammad Mushtaq of Larkana said.
Many youngsters from Rawalpindi and Islamabad used motorcycles to reach Murree, which is an hour’s drive from the capital city.
Murree’s adjoining areas like Galyaat, Bhurban, Ayubia and Nathiagali have also attracted large crowds of tourists.
Local hotels have reported a surge in bookings. However, tourists complained the hotels, especially those on the Mall, overcharged them at will but the administration was indifferent to their misery.
Traffic jams have been reported on the Mall, at GPO Chowk and on Kuldanna Road mainly due to wrong parking of vehicles.
