500 daycare centres to be set up: minister
LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Labour Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced a significant decision in a recent meeting with Secretary Labour Naeem Ghous and DG Labour Welfare Punjab Kulsoom Hai. Under the Punjab Labour Department, day care centres will be established for children of women working in factories.
Initially, 500 day care centres will be set up in collaboration with factory managements. The minister said that labour laws and minimum wage would be enforced in factories at all cost. 'Additionally, labour colonies will be established for workers, and efforts will be made to improve living standard of factory workers in Punjab. The minister also mentioned that field officers across Punjab were mobilised to enforce labour laws, and measures would be taken to provide modern and high-quality education to children of workers in Workers Welfare Schools.
