Private housing scheme offer 135 kanals of land for interchange
Islamabad
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved proposal of a private housing scheme for provision of 135 kanals of land to the National Highway Authority (NHA) and construction of an interchange at their own cost in order to link new Islamabad Airport with main highways.
The prime minister while according the approval has observed that offer made by M/s Top City not only provides 135 kanals of land free of cost but also proposes to construct new interchange loops and ramps at their own according to the design approved by NHA.
The prime minister also observed that the proposal also reduces liability on the NHA sustainability by eliminating the need of construction of service roads as were proposed earlier.
“The prime minister felt that an interchange will still keep intact the essential design component of it being a limited access facility,” the letter issued from the Prime Minister Secretariat said.
As per detail of the project, the private housing society would construct the interchange as per design approved by NHA.
The road linking the new airport with Kashmir Highway is also likely to be completed by October, this year. The interchange will also link housing society with the Kashmir Highway.
