Operation in KP not to be allowed: Gandapur
Chief minister said government would take action should people identify corruption, bribery and drugs
BANNU: Opposing the launch of any operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday directed the police to take action against the armed groups.
Addressing the participants of a rally, the chief minister said the provincial apex committee had approved the demands of Bannu Amn Committee. “The apex committee discussed the demands threadbare. We will take our own decisions and will not allow anyone to impose decisions on us,” he said.
“I had said earlier that you should reform yourself or be ready for punishment. I am again warning that no armed group is acceptable. I instruct the police to take action against armed groups,” he added.
Thanking the people and local elders for cooperating with the administration after the firing incident at a protest rally a few days back, the chief minister said the people and local elders in Bannu played an important role in preventing the situation from getting worse.
He said Pakhtuns rendered sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan and freedom of Kashmir, adding Pakhtuns shed their blood for the motherland. “Due to the wrong policies of some people, we have had to make a lot of sacrifices. Operations were carried out against us in line with the American agenda. As chief minister, I declare that we will not allow any operation in the province,” he declared.
The CM said: “We were displaced. We have reservations about the way we were looked at in other provinces. We also have reservations that dollars were received in our name and were pocketed,” he said.
Gandapur said funds have been allocated in the budget for the children of madrassas and solarization of madrassas. The children of madrassas also had the right to be given employment like the ones studying in other educational institutions.
The chief minister said the government would take action should the people identify corruption, bribery and drugs. He said the personnel of security forces and police were making sacrifices for estoration of peace.
Earlier, announcements were made on loudspeakers in mosques and bazaars about the apex committee’s decision about the acceptance of protesters’ demands for establishing peace. A large number of people participated in the peace rally to welcome the chief minister.
