Promote renewable energy sources to combat power crisis: ACS South Punjab
MULTAN: Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fawad Hashim Rabbani highlighted the growing challenge of rising electricity costs in Pakistan. He emphasized that expensive electricity not only burdens the general public but also increases production costs for industries, impacting export growth.
He shared these insights while speaking to the media at the inauguration of the three-day Solar Pakistan Exhibition organized by Fakt Exhibitions at DHA Arena on Friday. Project Director DHA Multan Brig Ahmad Rizwan Ghuman President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mian Rashid Iqbal, and Fakt Exhibitions CEO Saleem Khan Tanoli were also present.
Fawad Hashim said that the government supports exhibitions on renewable energy, noting that projects like solar power offer cheaper electricity and are environmentally friendly, aiding in the fight against climate change. He mentioned that two new solar power plants are being installed in South Punjab, one in Kot Addu district and another in District Layyah. Additionally, two solar power plants are already operational in Layyah and Bahawalpur districts. He stressed the importance of innovation in renewable energy production and improving product quality, noting that the country’s future depends on renewable energy sources.
Meanwhile, Fawad Hashim inaugurated the two-day mango festival at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture on Friday and said that the mango of Pakistan has special recognition worldwide for its aroma and taste.
