Prolonged power cuts Residents block KKH
MANSEHRA: The protesters on Thursday blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH) to traffic for over four hours in protest against the prolonged power outages in Gandhian and its adjoining localities.
The protesters assembled on KKH and blocked it to traffic by setting tyres on fire in the Gandhian and Hati Mera areas, causing inconvenience to passengers. They were shouting slogans against Peshawar Electric Supply Company and its high-ups for their failure to ensure power supply even with the loadshedding schedule of eight hours a day.
“We, the residents of Gandhian and its adjoining localities, have been facing a 20-hour power outage on a daily basis and still receiving huge utility bills,” Rashid Khan, a local, told the protesters. “We would continue our protest until the current spate of prolonged and power outages is not brought to an end,” another local, Yasir Khan, said.
