PM, Punjab CM asked to lift ban on flour to KP
NOWSHERA: The Flour Dealers Association on Wednesday condemned the ban on transportation of the commodity from Punjab, terming it illegal and injustice to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking at a press conference, dealers’ leaders, including Waheed Khan, Ahmad Faraz, Akram Shah and others said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz should take notice of the ban imposed on the transportation of wheat flour to KP to facilitate the dealers and people to receive the staple food commodity at a reasonable price.
They said that flour prices were already high in KP and the rate from Rs2,200 per 20-kilogram bag would further soar if the ban was not lifted. They appealed to the PM and Punjab CM to dismantle unnecessary checkposts on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road and allow dealers to transport flour to KP.
