ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party has decided to take up the issue of import of LNG in the National Assembly with submitting the call attention notice at the NA Secretariat.
The notice was submitted by PPP MNAs Dr Nafisa Shah, Imran Zafar Leghari, Dar Azra Fazal Pechuho, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood.Through the call attention notice, the PPP legislators wanted to invite the attention of minister for petroleum and natural resources towards government pressure exerted on SNGPL and SSGPL to enter into a forced tripartite LNG import and re-gasification agreement with Engro without consent of their boards and in clear violation of Companies Ordinance and the rules and regulations of Ogra.
In their notice, the PPP legislators stated that the signing such an agreement will expose these companies to massive financial risk which will directly have an impact on general public. “The situation is worrisome and needs to be addressed promptly,” the notice stated.
