This refers to the article, 'No country for the poor' by Shafqat Mahmood (July 11).. The writer refrains from giving any real, practical solutions to the persistent economic woes of the country. I feel that the present government, just like the previous government (PTI), and various governments in Pakistan since the 1980s onwards, has been rather too prodigious in expenditures and blind borrowing. So these governments are collectively responsible for bringing us to this present, debt-ridden condition.
I believe it is a very bad idea, even now, to keep on borrowing and creating more debt to pay off debt. The fiscal planners in this regime today also lack any creativity or real ability to think out of the box, and find actual solutions. They're just doing what every other government did over the past four decades or more. Under the circumstances, I would strongly advise PM Shebaz Sharif and his team to immediately resign since they have completely failed to address our public needs .
