ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while taking serious action over the thrashing of a patrolling cop by two youths of influential families at F-11 Markaz has removed the SP (Rural Zone), the DSP (Shalimar) and the SHO (Shalimar), the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
On Thursday evening, two young men in their twenties, driving a BMW car, pulled the cop out of mobile Falcon and beat him black and blue when he asked them not to stop their car in the middle of the road at F-11 Markaz. The attackers later ran away from the scene leaving their car behind.
The cop, Fazal-e-Maalik, lodged a complaint with the Shalimar Police Station but despite clear directions from the SSP Operation, the SHO avoided arresting them for unknown reasons, the sources said.
The interior minister suspended the SHO and issued show cause notices to the SP and the DSP with removal from their offices for not taking immediate action. DSP (Shalimar) Ashraf Shah when contacted by this correspondent said that the police traced the accused immediately after the incident and started raids for their arrest but they obtained pre-arrest bail from a court of law.
