By-poll to decide future of Karachi: Imran
Says he has full confidence in Rangers; April 23 will prove to be doomsday for MQM

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that the by-poll in NA-246 on April 23 would decide the future of Karachi.
He said that the PTI had full confidence in the performance of the Rangers and it would ensure a peaceful and transparent election on April 23.
He said that the election day would prove to be doomsday for the Muttahida Qaumi Movement adding that the NA-246 by-election would decide the fate of Karachi.
He was addressing a press conference soon after his arrival on Saturday at the residence of MNA Arif Alvi.
The PTI announced a public rally on Shahrah-e-Pakistan on Sunday. Imran said that the NA-246 election was significant in the sense that it would turn Karachi into a peaceful city and fear would be eliminated from the city. He said that NA-246 was a very crucial seat and it would determine the future of Karachiites.
For the past 25 years, Karachi had been in the grip of fear and his party was here to break the shackles of fear. He said his party believed in peaceful coexistence and had never carried weapons. He claimed that the PTI’s popularity graph was increasing at the national level while that of the others had been reduced to a regional level, he said.
He challenged Altaf Hussain to allow the people of Karachi to vote freely and then see the results.
The PTI chairman arrived in the city along with his wife Reham Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen a day before the election rally.
He complained about the CNIC cards allegedly stolen by Muttahida workers to stop people from casting their votes and appealed to the Rangers to ensure fair and free elections. He also demanded the presence of the Rangers at the time of vote-counting.
