KALAYA: Eight militants were killed when gunship helicopters shelled their hideouts in the Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Friday.
The sources said the military’s gunship helicopters attacked the positions of the militants in Kasha, Babo Tang Killay, Drand Sheikhan and Ahat Mela.“The gunship helicopters targetted three militant hideouts in the central parts of the Orakzai Agency. Eight militants were killed in the shelling,” an official source said.
Security forces claimed that two commanders were among the dead. However, they didn’t disclose the identities of the slain commanders.The security forces’ claim about the casualties suffered by the militants could not be verified for lack of access to the area where the military action was in progress.
Earlier on Thursday, the official sources had claimed that 10 militants were killed in a clash during the ongoing search operation.The sources said that a number of militants have been killed and arrested in the military offensive in the Orakzai Agency in the last six days.
