Ulema’s role sought in peace
LAHORE: Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood has said the role of Ulema and Imams is very important in maintaining the sanctity of Muharram and promoting religious harmony and peace.
The commissioner, CCPO Bilal Siddique and Sheikhupura RPO Athar Ismail held a meeting with religious scholars in connection with Muharram. Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said Ulema and Imams’s role in the sanctity of Muharram and promotion of religious harmony was very important. Religious scholars in the meeting said they would assure full cooperation for peaceful Muharram. The commissioner said that the peace spirit of the scholars of all schools was commendable and the promotion of peace and religious tolerance was common responsibility. CCPO Bilal Siddique said that full security will be provided for processions and gatherings during Muharram. He said that Lahore police and administration were determined to maintain peace during Muharram. CCPO said that the implementation of the sound and speaker code, working hours and route restrictions of assemblies and processions will be ensured. All services will be provided to the processions in Muharram gatherings.
Meanwhile, a meeting regarding issuance of NOCs of environment was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood. The committee reviewed six NOCs applications in detail. He approved issuance of Environment NOC of four applications while two applications for NOC were rejected due to the unavailability of non-Commercialisation Certificate and Non-Height Certificate. DO Environment Ali Ijaz briefed the committee on NOCs and submitted record of all files. Commissioner said that all the issues related to environment were being reviewed daily on the principle of business promotion and ease of doing business. He said that govt was focusing on environment protection and there was a zero tolerance.
