Son arrested for brutally torturing father

Police on Monday arrested a man accused of brutally torturing his father, following the circulation of a distressing video on social media.

The arrested suspect, identified as the son of the victim, subjected his elderly father to severe abuse. Upon receiving notification from Zone East police chief DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, authorities apprehended the accused while recovering a weapon.

In the viral video, an elderly man dressed in traditional shalwar kameez and a religious cap tearfully recounts the ordeal of physical assaults, verbal abuse, and coercion to liquidate the family home by his son, Hassan. "The house belongs to everyone, including my brothers and sisters, but Hassan wants all the money for himself," the distressed father expressed in the video, appealing urgently to the government, Rangers, and police for assistance.

The DIG East intervened upon the video's dissemination, directing immediate action by law enforcement. Subsequently, the police arrested the accused and initiated a case against him at Sacchal police station, with investigations ongoing. 

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice across the community, highlighting the plight of vulnerable elderly individuals facing domestic abuse within their own homes. ­
