Pak U19 players move into Asian Junior pre-quarters

KARACHI: All Pakistani players in the under-19 category moved into the pre-quarterfinals at the 31st Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Anas Ali Shah defeated Huen Wai from Macao 11-4, 11-1, 11-2, M Ammad beat Kosei Toki from Japan 11-7, 11-2, 11-5, Usman Butt won against Jonathan Reyes from Philippines 15-13, 11-7, 11-4, Azan Khalil overpowered Verroon Heng from Malaysia 6-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-3, and Abdullah Nadeem beat Abdullah Khalifa from Qatar 7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8 while Hamza Khan got bye in the first round of the category.

In the under-17 category, top seed Abdullah Nawaz thrashed M Al-Khalf from Qatar 11-2, 11-2, 11-6, Azan Ali beat Junho Kim from Korea 11-5, 11-6, 11-6, and Asad Ali defeated Li Yuan Xin from Singapore 12-10, 11-4, 11-5 in the first round. In the under-15 category, Rehan Alamgir beat Chin Ka Nam from Macao 11-4, 11-5, 11-5, Abdullah Zaman defeated Manuth Sandira from Sri Lanka 11-9, 11-4, 11-6, Abdul Ahad Butt won against K Linuka from Sri Lanka 11-5, 11-5, 11-3, and Rayyan Bahadur smashed Talal Al-Badr from Qatar 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 while Noman Khan and Ahmed Khalil got byes in the first round.

In the under-13 category, Faizan Ali thrashed Harshitha Tharuka from Sri Lanka 11-4, 11-3, 11-1, Danish Sikandar beat Leung Nok from Hong Kong 11-5, 11-9, 11-5, Mamoon Khan defeated Fong Seng from Macao 11-2, 11-4, 11-5, and Fawad Khan won against Hamad Al-Khalf from Qatar 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 while Huzaifa Shahid and Sohail Adnan got byes in the first round. This championship is being held from June 25-29 in which around 200 players from 12 Asian countries are competing.
