Man, wife found dead in house

LAHORE:Two dead bodies were recovered from a house in the Baghbanpura area here on Monday. On receiving information, police reached the spot, collected evidence and shifted the bodies to mortuary.

The bodies were identified as Abdul Latif and his wife Abida. They were living in the house with their nephew. Their age is stated to be between 65 to 75 years old. The bodies appeared to be about three days old. They had been living in the upper storey of the house. Police and forensic teams have started investigating the incident. Investigations are being conducted on various aspects, including murder.

Eight die in road accidents in Punjab

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,251 accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, eight people died, whereas 1,386 were injured. Out of these, 625 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 761 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by rescue teams.

Valuables burnt in two fire incidents

Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were gutted in two fire incidents in the provincial capital here on Monday. The first case was reported in a plaza near Defence Mor.

A fire broke out in a cloth shop situated on the first floor of the plaza. As highly combustion-able material was present, it turned into a huge fire case. Nearby people called rescue teams. Firefighters reached the spot on information and extinguished the fire.

The other fire case was reported in an office of mobile company near Regal Chowk. The fire broke out due to short-circuit. No loss of life or injury has been reported in the incident.
