LAHORE: The combination of sizzling heat and loadshedding affected normal life on Sunday as some areas of Punjab witnessed 12 to 20 hours of loadshedding which also disrupting water supply.
Hundreds of citizens protested against power and gas loadshedding outside Sheikhupura Press Club. Similarly, people staged a protest on Lahore Road in Khanqah Dogran, as the town witnessed 20 hours of unannounced loadshedding.
The power outages in Lahore were as per schedule with six-hour of loadshedding. But it is over 10 hours in the border areas of Batapur because of power theft and non-payment of bills that cause more than 30 per cent loss to Lesco. There was a shortfall of 1,000 MW of electricity in the distribution company’s system.
There was 12 hours of loadshedding in the urban and 16 hours in rural parts of Gujrat. Hours-long outages were also reported from Mandi Faizabad, Pindi Bhattian and Lalamusa. Power outages during night made life miserable for the residents of Hafizabad and Ghakhar Mandi.
