ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Sunday briefed Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on the security measures taken for the protection of Chinese people working on different projects in Pakistan, including CPEC.
The interior minister met the Chinese ambassador at the Chinese Embassy.
During the meeting, the prime minister's recent visit to China, further promotion of Pakistan-China relations and security measures taken for the protection of Chinese citizens were discussed in detail.
Naqvi said the recent visit of the prime minister had strengthened the friendship between the two countries. He highlighted that the president, prime minister and top leadership of China had always supported Pakistan and outlined the measures taken for protecting Chinese citizens across Pakistan.
He discussed the security plan for Chinese engineers and staff working on CPEC and other projects. He said comprehensive and effective SOPs had been made for the security of Chinese citizens and a separate force SPU was being established in Islamabad for the protection of foreign nationals.
The interior minister emphasized that the protection of Chinese brothers working for Pakistan's progress and development was the topmost priority of the government. He stressed that no one could create a rift in everlasting friendship of Pakistan and China, and any conspiracy against it will be defeated.
Expressing satisfaction over the security arrangements, the Chinese Ambassador said Pakistan and China were all-weathers friends and China attached great importance to its relations with Pakistan.
