LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a firm stance on hosting the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
However, the PCB faces hurdles, particularly regarding India’s participation due to security concerns arising from strained relations between the two nations. ICC officials recently visited Pakistan to assess preparations for the tournament.
The BCCI has reportedly proposed a hybrid model similar to that of Asia Cup 2023, whereby India’s matches would be played in a neutral venue. The PCB has categorically rejected this proposal, insisting on hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan.
The PCB has suggested February 19th to March 9th, 2025, for the tournament. It plans to hold matches across three major cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The PCB is particularly keen to stage India’s games in Lahore for logistical and security reasons, minimising travel requirements.
