Man arrested after killing uncle in Gulistan-e-Jauhar

The Sharea Faisal police on Wednesday arrested the suspect within a few hours of a killing in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Meanwhile, three people, including a woman, were injured in other incidents of firing in the city.

A man was shot dead at a house in Sindh Baloch Society in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 12 within the limits of the Sharea Faisal police station.

Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the scene and shifted the body to Jinnah hospital, where the deceased was identified as 50-year-old Maqbool Ahmed, son of Zikria Suleiman.

SHO Khalid Abbasi said that during the initial investigations, it was found that a man, Fahim, had shot Ahmed, who was his maternal uncle, and fled.

The deceased man had come four days ago from Australia to celebrate Eidul Azha.

Police said Ahmed came to meet his sister at the house on Tuesday where Faheem met him normally. However, on Wednesday, he shot his uncle dead and escaped.

He was arrested within three hours after the killing. According to police, the suspect had some mental issues and he had been consulting a doctor in Defence.

The victim's wife and children are living in Australia. Further investigations are underway.

In another incident, a 25-year-old security guard, Zohaib, was injured after his rifle accidentally went off near the Jauhar Complex area of Model Colony. He was shifted to Jinnah hospital.

At a house in Baldia No 2 in SITE B area, a 22-year-old woman, Amina, wife of Bilal, was injured after being hit by a stray bullet. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital. Police said they were investigating the case.

Besides, an 18-year-old youth, Iqbal Yusuf, was injured in a firing during a quarrel near Sonali Chowk in the Machar Colony area within the limits of the Docks police station.
