A welder was killed and another injured in an oil tanker explosion during welding in the Keamari area on Saturday.

The incident occurred during some welding work on an oil tanker, when a powerful explosion took place. The explosion resulted in the destruction of two tankers, shattered windows of nearby buildings, and caused cracks and damage to roofs.

The injured were immediately taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the 65-year-old welder, Zulfiqar, son of Mushtaq, succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other injured person, who was said to be around 16 years old, was reported as critical. The blast caused panic in the area.

The location where the explosion occurred is a common spot in Shirin Jinnah Colony where tankers are regularly parked by the roadside for welding, which also disrupts traffic flow. Following the incident, the police arrived and investigated the scene. According to the police, the blast happened because the tanker’s lid was closed, leading to a buildup of gas that resulted in the explosion.
