PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the National Accountability (NAB) to defreeze all the bank accounts of a construction company of Bus Rapid Transit except BRT.
A division bench of the PHC comprising Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Shakil Ahmad heard the writ petition. Shumail Ahmad Butt appeared for the petitioner while Deputy Prosecutor General Muhamamd Ali represented the NAB.
Counsel for the petitioner informed the bench that the NAB had frozen all the bank accounts of the petitioner due to which the company’s financial matters and other works were being affected.
He pleaded that the company was also running construction projects in other parts of the country and that his client was unable to pay salaries to staff and continue routine matters. He requested the court to order Nab to unfreeze all the bank accounts while the BRT one should be kept frozen.
The NAB lawyer said that if the company was given relief then it would be difficult to ascertain that the money had been withdrawn from which account.Upon this, Justice Shakil Ahmad said that the petitioner would not touch the BRT accounts and directed the NAB to unfreeze all other accounts of the company.
