CDA to construct two underpasses

Islamabad: Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to construct two underpasses in the federal capital for the convenience of commuters.

In this regard, Mohsin Naqvi chaired the meeting with the CDA chairman and ChiefCommissioner Islamabad Mohammad Ali Randhawa and officials of National Engineering Services of Pakistan (Nespak).

The Interior Minister said one underpass will be built at Serena Chowk and the other on Srinagar Highway making it a signal-free corridor. The minister was briefed about the project’s initial design by the Nespak officials. He directed concerned authorities to complete the underpasses in minimum time. The preliminary design of the underpasses project had been chalked out, CDA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, there is bad news that another meeting with the CDA chairman in chair decided to increases different charges received by the Building Control Directorate with effect from July 1, this year. The meeting took the decision after discussing receipts in heads of scrutiny fees of building plan, fines without construction and other heads. The meeting was briefed that there has been no increase in fees and charges of Building Control Directorate since the year 2017. Similarly, it was also decided to increase charges on change in land use in Zones 2, 4 and 5 of Islamabad.
