As desired by CJP: PM approves display of ‘Kaaba Pen’ at SC Museum
He also requested the apex court to nominate a representative for the collection of the Golden Kaaba Door’s Pen from the Cabinet Division
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved display of a gift, received and deposited in Toshakhana by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, at the Supreme Court Museum.
He also requested the apex court to nominate a representative for the collection of the Golden Kaaba Door’s Pen from the Cabinet Division. The pen was gifted to CJP Qazi Faez Isa by Dr Mohammad Abdul Karim Al Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League.
In a letter dated May 15, 2024, to Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Secretary to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Cabinet Division stated that as per Para-11(i) of Toshakahana Procedure, 2023, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved the display of gift presented to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa by Dr Mohammad Abdul Karim Al Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League. It was requested that an authorised representative from the Supreme Court of Pakistan be nominated to collect the gift, ie one Golden Kaaba Door’s Pen from the Cabinet Division.
Earlier on May 3, 2024, the Secretary to the Chief Justice of Pakistan had requested the Cabinet Division that the Chief Justice considers that the gift be presented to the Supreme Court Museum for permanent display, enabling the public to view it and be reminded of the bond and love that the people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have for each other.
In a letter addressed to Kamran Ali Afzal, Cabinet Secretariat, Cabinet Division, Islamabad the Secretary to Chief Justice of Pakistan wrote that on Monday, 8 April 2024 the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Karim Al Issa called upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. It was intimated that the secretary general was most gracious to present the chief justice with a beautiful golden Kaaba Door’s Pen adding that the description of the said pen states that it is a limited-edition masterpiece.
“The Kaaba Door’s Pen is in the shape of the traditional key of the door of the most holy site for Muslims and was an excellent choice of His Excellency, who represents the Muslim World League”, says the letter. It was stated that the Chief Justice considers that a thing of such beauty, presented by the Muslim World League, must be shared with the people of Pakistan. “Therefore, while the Chief Justice is honoured to receive the beautiful gift, he considers that it be presented to the Supreme Court Museum for permanent display, enabling the public to view it and be reminded of the bond and love that the people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have for each other”, the secretary wrote.
It was further stated that the Kaaba Door’s Pen in a black gift box is being deposited as per the applicable Toshakhana rules with the request that requisite permission be granted and the same be presented to the Supreme Court Museum.
“I am delighted with your decision to display our humble gift at the Supreme Court Museum in Pakistan, where people will get a glimpse of the profound friendship, brotherhood and love we share with Pakistan and its people, who are dear to our heart,” Dr Mohammad Bin Abdul Karim A Issa wrote to Chief Justice of Pakistan.
