Four suspects have been arrested with betel nuts worth more than Rs3 million that they were smuggling into Sindh from Balochistan, according to District Keamari police chief SSP Faizan Ali.
SSP Ali said the Mochko checkpoint police took action against the inter-provincial betel nuts smugglers, recovering more than three tonnes of betel nuts from the trailer coming from Balochistan.
The officer said that a bribe of Rs1.6 million was offered to the police but they refused, and registered a case against the suspects identified as Nabi Bakhsh, Yar Khan, Ajab Khan and Baran.
He said the operation was led by Mochko police station SHO Inspector Shahid Khan. He also said that 3.36mt of betel nuts in 280 sacks was recovered from the trailer. The betel nut sacks were hidden between the cement sacks on the trailer, he added.
