IGP stresses need for concrete steps to develop Madadgar-15 on modern lines
Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon conducted a meeting at the Central Police Office on Friday and discussed measures to strengthen the process of policing and introduce necessary reforms in the police stations at the moment.
Officials said the meeting was attended by the additional IG operations, DIG Headquarters, Establishment, Admin Karachi, T&T, IT, finance and other senior officers. On the occasion, the additional IG operations, DIG Establishment and KPO Karachi DIG gave briefings on the agenda of the meeting and termed the process of policing and reforms in police stations as a major step in the category of public interest.
DIG Establishment Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, while briefing the meeting, suggested that police personnel should be deployed through police stations to make the area patrolling and surveillance process extraordinary. He said measures like police deployment on streets, neighborhoods and highways would help prevent crime.
IGP Memon said that after further research and review regarding the increase and decrease in the number of police stations, recommendations containing actionable issues should be sent for a review. He said the recommendations should also cover comprehensive details regarding the budget, vehicles and other resources required for the proposed police stations.
Memon said that for timely response and redressal of public grievances, it has become necessary to take very concrete and effective steps to develop Madadgar-15 on modern technology and modern lines. He further said that the supply of heavy motorbikes should be ensured for Madadgar-15 to make effective measures such as crime prevention and public safety.
He said a large number of 11,000 newly recruited personnel would be deployed in the police stations with the aim of making the police station more concrete and integrated. The IGP said a unified mechanism should be formed for the development of police officers and personnel, which will undoubtedly bring uniformity to the process of departmental development. In addition, additional posts should also be created in various ranks for officers, constables and other personnel awaiting departmental promotion in all ranges.
