Govt takes steps to educate youth on climate change
Islamabad:In a significant move towards climate education, Romina Khurshid Alam, the PM's coordinator on climate change & environmental coordination, announced that upcoming summer camps will include teachings on climate change for students. This initiative aims to sensitise the youth on this crucial issue.
Khurshid Alam shared this during a meeting with Abdullah A. Fadil, the Unicef country director for Pakistan. She highlighted collaborations with the Secretary Federal Education & Professional Training and Chairman Higher Education Commission to incorporate climate change-related content into the curriculum. Moreover, the Ministry of Climate Change is set to establish a COP cell to expedite climate actions and assess climate risks, which Pakistan will present at the upcoming UNFCCC COP29.
The discussion also revolved around promoting climate tourism, entertainment, sports, and economy. Both sides expressed commitment to these endeavours, with Unicef pledging to strengthen support and collaborate on COP29.
