HYDERABAD: Panic ensued on Thursday night as an explosion occurred on the Makki Shah Phatak railway track near the railway station in Hyderabad.

Teams from the police, bomb disposal squad, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), security agencies and rescue agencies rushed to the scene.

Sources revealed that the explosion was caused by a homemade cracker containing improvised materials, including 10 grams of explosives, black paper, and bearings, placed on the railway up-track, resulting in a minor crater.

The Bomb Disposal Squad swiftly cleared the railway track, restoring train traffic to normalcy.

Authorities suspected extremist terrorists to be behind the explosion. An FIR has been registered at the CTD police station by the Hyderabad police.
