Tayyab, Asim, Nasir move into CNS Squash semis

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Tayyab Aslam, Asim Khan, and Nasir Iqbal moved into the semifinals of the $20,000 16th CNS International Squash championship in Karachi here on Friday.
In the quarterfinals, second seed Tayyab defeated eighth seed Matthew Lai from Hong Kong 12-10, 12-10, 11-9 in 39 minutes and wildcard Nasir Iqbal thrashed unseeded M Syafiq Kamal from Malaysia 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 in 27 minutes.
Top seed Asim Khan won against sixth seed Tang Ming Hong from Hong Kong 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 in 51 minutes but seventh seed Noor Zaman lost to fourth seed M Zakaria from Egypt 9-11, 12-14, 11-6, 11-8, 5-11 in 56 minutes. Now, Tayyab is to face Zakaria and Nasir is up against Asim in the semifinals on Saturday (today).
