PA session today likely to adopt resolution to condemn May 9 riots
The new session of the Sindh Assembly commencing on Thursday (today) afternoon is likely to adopt a resolution condemning the acts of violence and rioting in the country on May 9 last year following the imprisonment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan.
The resolution, submitted to the assembly secretariat by female lawmaker Sadia Javed of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party, asserts that the May 9 riots were part of a heinous conspiracy aimed at isolating Pakistan in the international community. It calls for stern punishment for those responsible for the lawlessness witnessed on May 9.
The session of the Sindh Assembly has been convened on the occasion of the first anniversary of the May 9 incident in Pakistan, with Speaker Awais Qadir Shah presiding over the proceedings.
