LAHORE: University of Education, Lahore Monday organised a ceremony to celebrate the award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz conferred on M Sarwar Gondal, an alumnus of the varsity for his excellent services in the IT department.
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari gave the award. According to a press release, Gondal has been serving in the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics since 2017 as Member Support Services/Resource Management.
He is a well-known name in digital transformation and e-governance in the public sector, and has previously headed the IT Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the IT Board of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He played a key role in conducting the first digital census of 2023 in Pakistan. University of Education, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Alam Saeed congratulated Gondal and called him an asset of the varsity.
